J S S Banashankari Arts, Commerce & S K Gubbi Science College, located in Dharwad, Karnataka, is popularly known as J S S or Janata Shikshana Samiti College after the name of the Trust. Established as an intermediate college in 1944 by the Karnataka Education Board, it was bifurcated into two separate colleges, the Banashankari Arts College and Shantikumar Gubbi Science College in 1966.
Again these two colleges were merged in 1975 to form J S S College.
J S S Banashankari Arts, Commerce & S K Gubbi Science College is situated in a picturesque, spacious and well-maintained campus on the top of the Mailarlinga Hill, currently known as Vidyagiri. Accredited with ‘A` level certificate by the NAAC, the colleges is affiliated to Karnatak University and imparts PU, undergraduate and post graduate courses in Arts, Science and Commerce disciplines. Besides, career oriented courses like BBA, BCA and diploma and advanced diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician (MLTC) are also conducted here.
