Alagappa Government Arts College, situated at Karaikudi, in Ramnad district of Tamil Nadu, was established in 1947. Founded by the well known philanthropist Late Dr. RM Alagappa Chettiar of Kottaiyur, the college aims at offering qualitative higher education for the backward people of erstwhile Ramnad district and its nearby areas. Affiliated to Alagappa University, Alagappa Government Arts College is also accredited and assessed by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Government of Tamil Nadu took over the management of the College in 1985 to offer several undergraduate and post graduate programmes in Arts, Science, and Commerce at affordable cost. Besides, the institute runs various professional courses. -
