The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, deemed an institute of national importance by an Act of the Indian Parliament, strives to offer the best undergraduate engineering education in India with unmatched innovations in curriculum. IIT Gandhinagar was founded in 2008 and is located in Chandkheda, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. IIT Gandhinagar offers 4-year BTech and MTechprogrammes in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Materials Science and Engineering. It also offers 2-year MSc programmes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Cognitive Science, and a 2-year MA programme in Society and Culture. Construction of the initial phase of IITGN`s permanent campus on the banks of the Sabarmati river near Palaj, Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, is currently in its advanced stages. The Institute plans to move to its permanent campus in the second half of 2015.
