V.R. High School and College Committee started the high school in 1875 and a college from 1921.The Committee in response to the popular demand thought of starting a Law College as early as in 1966 and requested Sri Venkateswara University authorities to grant affiliation for starting B.L. Degree Course. The Request was not acceded to by the University as there was no faculty of law at the University then. The request was renewed in 1972 and the college was started in 1974.
The college constructed a building with 30 rooms for its exclusive use. The college has developed beyond expectations. There are sufficient number of class rooms, a well furnished moot court hall and a well equipped library. The College Possesses adequate number of staff members who have specialized in different branches of Law. The percentage of passes in the university examination is quite satisfactory. As per the recommendations of Bar Council of India, New Delhi and as adopted by Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, College switched over to Semester system for LL.B Degree course. On the establishment it was affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati and now it is affiliated to Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore from the academic year 2010-2011. The 5 Years LL.B Degree course was re-introduced from the academic year 2014-2015.
Educational Approach
There is an emphasis on case study method of learning to acquaint participants with understanding and solving real life legal issues. The classrooms and lecture series are with a participatory approach to comprehend, assimilate and articulate management theory and concepts, and apply them towards developing one’s own problem solving framework and management style. Other educational methods such as lectures, moot court competitions, Court observation and Legal aid clinics are also used. Computers, digital library complement these methods.
