Recognising the growing significance of value orientation to business in particular and education in general, the need arose for establishing a management institute which would strive to impart the lofty ideals of character building to future corporate managers, apart from education in conventional management skills and techniques. After having painstaking research, an unprecedented attempt was made in promoting a new management credo – ‘VIVEK MANAGEMENT - The Indian Wisdom for Management’, with the singular objective to produce value-enriched managers, who could create corporate environment of excellence, with the strategic intent of reviving the pristine glory of India.
The idea translated into reality on the 16th of October 1994, during the Vijay Yatra of His Holiness, the Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharathi Teertha Mahaswamiji, Shankaracharya of Sringeri, when the final decision to set up a unique management institute with focus on Indian shastras (Scriptures) took concrete shape and received the endorsement and Divine Blessings of His Holiness.
In 1996, Shri T. N. Seshan, former Chief Election Commissioner of India and Dr. D. Swaminathan, Member, Planning Commission inaugurated the Institute. Currently the Institute offers Master, Post Graduate and Under Graduate Programmes in Business Management with special focus on Indian ethos, duly approved by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India This Institute is being led under the stewardship of eminent management philosopher and exponent Swami Parthasarathy (Chairman, Ramakrishna-Vivekananda International Foundation) whose visionary guidance creates the agenda for growth of Sri SIIM. The Institute also aims to develop a band of learning individuals, armed with strong conceptual foundation and intuitive insights, who are capable of successfully meeting the challenges of a global business economy. The Institute is geared to prepare students with a perfect blend of life skills and managerial competence to contribute to the yeoman task of nation building through sustained economic development
