Govt. Degree College Kullu, situated on the right bank of River Beas, has one of the most picturesque scenic spot for experiencing the teaching-learning activities. The college has successfully completed 45 years of its existence. It was established on 8th July, 1967 with an aim to disseminate quality education to the youth of Kullu Valley and to shape the youth by inculcating in them the ethos of tradition and change. The college caters to the needs of students of Kullu, Lahaul & Spiti and Mandi Districts. The college is affiliated to H.P. University, Shimla. At present it runs graduate courses in Arts, Science and Commerce, Post graduate courses in M.A. English and Economics, B.C.A. and B.B.A. There are well equipped computer lab, well stocked library and hostels facilities for boys and girls. The college has established a glorious record of excellence and notable achievements in academics, sports, cultural and other fields.The college aims at the overall personality development of the students and equipping them for quality life. Highly qualified and well experienced faculty members make continuous and concentrated efforts in shaping the future of the students. We provide excellent facilities in the field of sports also.
New facilities provided to the students recently:

    Introduced M.A. Economics, Journalism and Mass communication as one of the subject in Arts from last year, B.B.A. in 2010-2011 and B.C.A. in 2008-2009.
    Two Smart Classrooms with interactive touchscreen boards, computers and projectors are now fully ready.
    Introduction to Digital Library for students.
    Campus WIFI facility.
    Fully computerized library, connected to NLIST Programme of INFLIBNET online library with access of more than 1,60,000 digital books and online journals.
    Information Technology Lab for all the College Students.
    Renovation of library study room with new sitting arrangement.
    Introduced new student data entry software to streamline the office work and to maintain the student`s record.
    New Girls‟ Hostel with accommodation of 100 students is now ready. Well-equipped 2 hostels one for Boys and another for Girls with computer, sports, Gymnasium and library facilities.
    Renovation of College Ground, Science Block and Shifting of Administrative Block to Library building. One of the old Girls hostel building is now being utilized for administrative and classroom purposes due to dismantling of some old college buildings.
    Total fencing of College Campus, a more beautiful campus with tiled floor in front of science block and a new botanical Garden.
    Computers with Broadband connectivity to all the Science departments including Geography.
    Departmental libraries in all the Science departments including Geography department.
    Pure drinking water and coolers for students, new toilets separately for Boys and Girls.
    Expansion of Science lab of Chemistry, Geography and Botany with construction of new rooms.
    Digital LED Notice board.
    College own website with all the relevant Information and Notices for the students and for general public.

Upcoming infrastructures and initiatives:
A new administrative block and arts block is being constructed with a estimated cost of about Rs 9,5000000. It will house the student center, auditorium, library and common rooms for boys and girls Construction of aforesaid structure shall start very soon from this session. A sum of Rs. 1, 19, 63,700 has been deposited by H.P. Govt. with HIMUDA for the construction of residential accommodation for the Principal, College staff and for Chowkidar. The college is going to face some accommodation problem from this session onwards due to dis-mantling of some old college buildings for the construction of new Arts and administrative block, in spite of this we are committed to provide pleasant and convenient environment for study and overall development of the students.
