The college started functioning during the academic year 2010-11. It is run by Sree Narayana Guru Trust constituted by the SNDP Yogam, Kottayam Union. The trust is committed to the objectives of promoting equality, fraternity and secularism based on the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru. Committed to charitable and social work in noble ways, ensuring the betterment of the marginalized sections of the society. The trust upholds the philosophy of ‘Progress Through Education and ‘Emancipation for all, through it.
The Sree Narayana Guru Trust keeps the words and deeds of the great philosopher and visionary, Sree Narayana Guru close to its bosom and domain of action while positioning the Gurudeva Institute of Science and Technology (GISAT) at Vennimala, Kottayam-11 as a seat of enlightenment and a platform to impart quality education in the technical arena, at an affordable expense.
GISAT offers B.Tech Degree programme in five branches of engineering; viz, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering. The intake in each branch is 60. Engineering diploma holders are admitted to the third semester of the B.Tech course under the lateral entry scheme.
