The Southern Districts namely Thirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari (where Loyola Institute of Technology and Science (LITES) is established) were once referred as the Oxford of the South, since large number of meritorious graduates came out of this place and served our Motherland with grace and dedication.
The Society of Jesus (SJ-Jesuits) have established many schools and colleges (like St. Xaviers College, Palayamkottai, St. Josephs College, Trichy, Loyola College, Chennai and so on) and gave quality education in Tamil Nadu.
Their services are highly regarded and appreciated. They have produced many eminent leaders to serve our Great Nation including our beloved former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Hence a set of Alumni and Beneficiaries of Jesuit institutions have assembled together and registered the LOYOLA EDUCATIONAL TRUST and established Loyola Institute of Technology and Science with the AICTE approval in May 2008(No: 06/05/TN/ENGG/2007/33 dt.16/5/08) and obtained Anna University Affiliation in July 2008 (No:104/Affiliation/2008 dt 3/7/08)
Now Jesuits Priests are posted in LITES campus. They are guiding and counseling us.

Inauguration of Main Building April 2008
His Excellency, Most Rev. Peter Remigius D.D the Honorable Bishop of Kottar and 14 other priests jointly offered the High Mass at 3.30 pm on 20/04/2008 and prayed for the growth of the Institution and for the welfare of the Trustees and their family members.
Floral arrangement of the altar was done by Clunny Sisters. Rev.Sr.Maria Therez of Clunny Convent was leading the Church prayer and Nanjil Natham Choir added synchronized music for the occasion.
Large number of Jesuit Priests stationed in St. Xaviers College, Palayamkottai and Carmel School, Ramanputhur and Diocesan Priests including Rev.Fr.Maria Dasan our beloved Vicar General, Fr.Kulanthaisamy, Rev.Fr.Soosai, Rev.Fr.Sarvacius, Rev.Fr.DR.Hilarius, Ph.D., were present to bless the college.
Rev. Sisters belonging to St.Alphonsa convent, St. Josephs Convent, St. Annes Convent and Holy Cross College and Clunny Sisters (in addition to the Trustees & their family members) were present to dedicate the Institute to the Nation.
The goals were explained by the Founder Trustee to the honorable Bishop. After the Blessing and dedication Ceremony, the Governing Council consisting of DR. M.T. NICHOLAS M.S. Ph. D, DR.A.E. MUTHUNAYAGAM ME. Ph.D., Rev.Fr.DR. N. CASIMIR RAJ. S.J., Rev. Fr. DR. JOSEPH XAVIER S.J., Rev. Sr. DR. GERARDINE Ph.D., MR.A.L. SEKAR B. Tech (IIT) & MRS.JESSY FLORA M. Tech., M.B.A. (Ph. D) met and endorsed the goals of the institute, admission procedure, fee structure, methods & procedure by which parents could interact through the automated system.
Inauguration of MBA Block April 2009
The MBA block and II year Labs and classrooms were completed by March 2009.
The blessing and dedication ceremony was presided over by His Excellency, Peter Remigius D.D, the Bishop of Kottar along with 12 priests from diocese and Jesuit order on 18/4/2009.
Inauguration of Resource Centre March 2011
The Library block including Digital Library was inaugurated by his Excellency Most Rev. Peter Remigius D.D on 7/03/2011.
Inauguration of Sports Complex July 2011
The feast of our Patron saint Loyola was celebrated in a grand manner at the completion of three years. Considering the importance of health of the students, sports activities are given prominent role.
Rev.Fr.P.S.Arul S.J the Superior of Carmel Home along with 6 other home priests celebrated the mass, prayed for the growth of the institution and inaugurated the “Sports Academy of Loyola” and blessed the sports complex on 30 July 2011.
Inauguration of Auditorium December 2011
An auditorium to accommodate around 2000 students was built for organizing students cultural program.
A great grand kala function was organized on 19 December 2011. Most Rev.Peter Remegius, along with 20 other priests. Celebrated high mass, prayed, blessed and inaugurated the auditorium.

6 Mechanical Engineering labs along with 8 class rooms with department office and staff room was inaugurated.
