B.P.Poddar Institute of Management and Technology (BPPIMT) was established in the year 1999, under the aegis of B.P.Poddar Foundation for Education, a Trust dedicated to enriching the quality of technical education in the country. The Institute was set up as a tribute to the memory of Late Badri Prasad Poddar, philanthropist and educationist and the founder of the B.P.Poddar Group.
The B.P. Poddar Institute of Managment & Technology was initially affiliated to the University of Kalyani (in the year 1999) and later on in the year 2001 as per the instruction of Govt. of West Bengal, the Institute was affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata. The courses offered are structured according to prevailing international standards. The Institute blends a dynamic and progressive approach to education with high quality, innovative and result oriented programmes which has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

To develop an Institution of Excellence for advancement of Science & Technology and for creation of professionals with high sense of ethical values and commitment to the Society, capable of functioning unfettered by the shackles of caste, creed, political dogmas and religious parochialism, to effectively contribute to and lead in the shaping of the nation.
SHORT TERM OBJECTIVE
To produce sufficient number of capable engineers to cater for the immediate needs of increasing demands of graduate engineers for sustainable development of the ever increasing expansion of IT and other Emerging Technological Sector, both in the National and Global scenario.
MID TERM OBJECTIVE
To expand the academic activities to other branches of Engineering, Technology & Applied sciences as per the requirement of the Industrial needs
To cultivate Research and Development activities for sustainable development of Technical education
LONG TERM OBJECTIVE
To develop the Institution as a Centre of Excellence, capable of handling emerging areas of Science & Technology and continue to open up newer dimensions in Science & Technology through rigorous and innovative research practices with a vision of making it a Global resource centre.
