Gurunanak Institute of Technology (GNIT) was established in 2003 at Panihati, West Bengal and belongs to the very eminent JIS GROUP Educational Initiatives. The institute, with a sprawling campus, has a state of the art infrastructure with excellent LAN/WAN connectivity, broadband internet facilities. The institute is built over 7 acres of land with huge built up area of about 23,102 sq. mtrs.. A Faculty comprising over 100 Professors, Associate Professors & Asst. Professors assists the students with State of Art equipment. The campus has 32 Class Rooms, 2 AC Conference halls, 300 seats seminar hall, 51 laboratories, over 600 computers with Leased line and Wi-Fi connectivity and a library consisting of over 41182 books and 296journals.

The institute is accredited by TCS, has MOU with Infosys to conduct "Campus Connect Programme", has a strong Training and Placement Cell that has star companies invited in the campus for eligible students. About 25% of their faculty are PhD Degree holders, faculty members are encouraged regularly to present papers in national and International conference and seminars - the dedicated faculty regularly publish books and research papers and already 2 patents have been filed by the institute which is a reflection of its R & D activities and commitment to innovation.
Ambience:

The College is located very near to the Sodpur railway station and well connected by road and railway. The entire campus is protected with boundary walls and has sufficient space for movement of personnel and vehicles. Campus is smoking free & plastic free to ensure an eco- friendly and pollution free environment. Rooms are well exposed with natural lights and having proper ventilations.

The students and staff members are in a habit of environmental preservation and have undertaken a number of initiatives to ensure environmental preservation in all possible forms with the local authorities.
Green cover:

The Institute is surrounded with a lush green environment and the landscape & garden is beautifully maintained by gardeners. There is play ground and maintained with green grass. Horticultural maintenance has been outsourced for routine maintenance and new development of garden/plantations. They also planted saplings and plants, cleared the campus of plastics, and other forms of wastes so that we can set to rights and revive the ailing planet making it evergreen. This event marked the beginning of a creation of a long-term awareness for building a healthy, green and safe environment in the campus. Our objective is to recreate a green campus by the end of 2015.
Water harvesting:

The institute has two water bodies, one within the campus and other one adjacent to the boundary wall. In addition there are bore wells for all usages.
Environment preservation:

The students plant saplings and plants, clear the campus of plastics, and other forms of wastes through NSS programme every year to make the campus evergreen. Gardner is appointed for taking care of plants. Segregated solid waste management system is in place. Waste papers are supplied to proper agencies for recycling. Awareness programs are arranged on subjects like, environment awareness, hazards of plastics, energy conservation and use of renewable energy sources. Display of slogans & banners on environment protection in campus.
Barrier free structure:
The institute has planned to make some renovation for barrier free structure.
