Hojal College has carved out a niche for itself as one of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the southern part of Nagaon district of Assam. It has come a long way since the sixties of the last century when the need of a college at Hojai was acutely felt. The pioneers of this noble task of establishing a college at Hojal, once the granary of Assam, had to face insurmountable hurdles on several fronts, But for the relentless efforts of a select band of far-sighted citizens and the patronisation and good will of the people of Hojai at large this institution of higher learning would never have seen the light of day.
11th July, 1964 will go down as a landmark in the history of Hojai as it heralded the intellectual dawn in this small town, with only 126 students in PU. (Arts) Hojai College began its journey to the future and it is gingerly stepping in to the threshold of one of its proudest and happiest moment - its golden jubilee year in 2013-14. Since its inception this college has been guided by the concepts of excellence in academic and co-curricular aspects of students’ life under the able guidance of a host of dedicated teachers. The college enjoys the reputation of being a truly cosmopolitan institution of learning.
