    aeronatical engineering

  • The Department of Aeronautical Engineering was started in the year 2013. The Department offers a 4-Year full time B. Tech programme in Aeronautical Engineering. Aeronautical engineering, as popularly quoted, is mechanical engineering done better.

The faculty members at department of Aeronautical engineering are highly qualified and experienced in their respective fields, with strong track records and the student-mentor relationship in the dept is such where the essential elements of progressive learning  friendship, understanding, transparency and mutual respect prevail. The faculty members are reputed and conversant in their respective areas of specialization. We also invite guest faculty for lectures, seminars and workshops. The list includes middle and senior management professionals associated with reputed companies that belong to various core sectors like Oil & Gas, Power, Information Technology, Aerospace, Design etc.

The B. Tech curriculum envisages five elective courses in addition to the courses on basic science, humanities, basic engineering and core aeronautical Engineering. The prescribed core courses cover important and exciting areas of Aeronautical Engineering includingAerodynamics, Aircraft Structures, Flight Dynamics, Propulsion, Avionics, Aircraft Design, Rockets and Missiles, Aircraft Systems and Instrumentations, and Aircraft Maintenance. As a part of the curriculum, the students are also given the best possible training in the modeling & simulation software packages that are widely used in Aerospace Industries such as CATIA, ANSYS and FLUENT. The students will also be undergoing practical classes in Laboratory Facilities of the department including Experimental Stress Analysis Lab, Aircraft Structures Laboratory, Aerodynamics Laboratory, Fluid & Flight Mechanics Lab, Simulation Laboratory and Avionics Laboratory.

Aeronautical Engineering is one of the most challenging fields of engineering with a wide scope for growth. This field deals with the development of new technology in the field of aviation, space exploration and defense systems. It specializes in designing, development, manufacture, testing, operation and maintenance of flight vehicles.

With the rapidly growing avenues in civil aviation, satellite communications and space exploration, the demand for aeronautical engineers for maintenance and management of flight vehicles is simply incalculable.

    Objectives of the program

The educational objectives of Bachelor of Technology in Aeronautical Engineering program can be broadly defined on four counts: 1) Employable: To enable students to excel in the field of Aeronautical Engineering and achieve the competency to enhance their employability for the industry, research and academic sectors. 2) Continuous Learning: To mould students to understand and comprehend problems of Aeronautical Engineering by applying basic principles and knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering and also able to use modern engineering techniques, skills, and tools to fulfill needs of the society. 3)Professionalism: To nurture students to be sensitive to ethical, societal and environmental issues while conducting their professional work in multi-cultural corporation and organization. 4) Innovative: To enable students to bring innovation into solution of myriad problems through comprehension, design, analysis and development.

    Career prospects in Aeronautical Engineering

Aerospace Engineering Courses imparts multi-faceted training to the area like manufacturing and development of aircrafts and missiles. An Aerospace engineer can also design, test and contribute to development of advance technologies in the field of defense and space science.

In India Aerospace engineers are mostly employed by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) and the Defense Ministry. One can also look for jobs available with the civil Aviation Department, National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL), Defense Research and Development Organization Laboratories (DRDO) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

A lot of job opportunities for Aerospace engineers are also available in the countries like United state of America, France, UK, Germany etc
