To create competent industry ready engineers familiar with current and emerging global civil engineering issues, and having an understanding of ethical and social responsibilities
The Department of Civil Engineering (CED) has been in existence since the inception of AISAT and is continually upgrading in terms of academic programs and research infrastructure to produce engineers and not engineering graduates.
Besides having well qualified and ingenious faculty the statuesque ambience attracts the best of students for both Bachelors and Masters Programs. Laboratories are well equipped with modern sophisticated instruments to tackle new challenges in research. Masters program in Geomechanics & Structures commenced in 2014 with the view to produce post graduates proficient in both Geotechnical and Structural engineering. The post graduate students are edified by reputed engineers from construction industry and consultancy firms. To establish the Civil Engineering Department as a center of excellence in software, contemporary software packages like Plaxis 3D, Ansys, E-Tabs & SAP are being conducted to the post graduate students and research scholars. This department believes that the best learning takes place through extensive interactions with the industry. With this in mind, we have built bridges with professional organizations culminating in MOUs with professional societies like IGS, GRACE, APS, ICI, ASGC, BAI etc.- a feature which very few have achieved in Kerala. In a short span of 3 years, CED has established several competitions and prizes like AISAT-IGS award for best M-Tech thesis in Geotechnical Engineering, AISAT-GRACE award for the best B.Tech thesis in Civil Engineering, annual best paper presentation contest, Tech fest etc. To foster the technical as well as professional skills of the students, internship training, software training, meet your elders in the profession, seminars and workshops are conducted frequently. In short we are advancing step by step to achieve our cherished goal of becoming a front runner in the field of engineering education in Kerala.
