PDM focuses on governance and management of resources, enterprises, institutions and interventions to improve their performance. In order to offer focussed learning, DMI intends to group elective courses in two streams; Livelihoods promotion and Collective Enterprises. The programme design consists of two segments - classroom and experiential learning. The classroom segment consists of five terms and involves an exposure to concepts, theories to build analytical skills and knowledge while the experiential learning segment consists of three components, Development Immersion (DI), Enterprise Learning (EL) and Management Internship (MI) to impart exposure to contextual development realities. The experiential learning component involves first-hand experience of understanding and working for development, learning about functional aspects of governance and management of enterprises, resources and institutions. The management internship engages students to work on projects pertaining to livelihoods promotion and/ or project work in community/ cooperative/ social collective enterprises or government/ non-government/ corporate CSR.
