- Degree College Courses :
Sathaye College, formerly called Parle College, was established in 1959 by Parle
Tilak Vidyalaya Association. The college is permanently affiliated to the University of
Mumbai for the courses leading to B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Sc. (IT), B.M.S. B.M.M.examinations.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A)
FIRST YEAR B. A. - 6 PAPERS (Total 600 marks - each paper of 100 marks)
Paper I - Foundation Course - I
Paper II - Communication Skills in English
Paper III - Marathi or Hindi
N.B. : Before selecting papers IV, V and VI students should note that at present,
at the T.Y.B.A level the college offers only 3 papers in the subjects of
A.I.C. and Education. Also, the college does not have Sociology, Gujarati,
Psychology and Sanskrit at the T.Y.B.A. level.
Paper IV : Select any one subject from the following :
Economics, History, English, Hindi, Sanskrit
Paper V : Select any one subject from the following :
Political Science, Ancient Indian Culture (A.I.C.),
Geography, Philosophy.
Paper VI : Select any one subject from the following :
Marathi, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Gujarati
S. Y. B. A. - 8 Papers (Total 800 marks - each paper of 100 marks)
A student is required to offer eight papers as given below :
a) Foundation course - II
b) Two papers in each of the three optional subjects offered at F.Y.B.A. (as per the
scheme available in this college)
c) General Applied component (one paper)
Mass Communication OR Advertising
T. Y. B. A. (600 marks)
1) A student is required to select one Major subject with 6 papers or two Major subjects
with 3 papers each. The Major subject should be one/two of the optional subjects
offered by the student at S.Y.B.A. Each paper will carry 100 marks. Total
marks 600.
2) The subjects offered are
i) 6 - paper Major Subjects :
English, Marathi, Hindi, Economics, Philosophy, History, Political Science and
Geography, Ancient Indian Culture (A.I.C.), and Eudcation
ii) 3 - paper Major Subjects :
a) History and A. I.C. b) Political Science and Education
c) Philosophy and Education d) A. I. C. and Education

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)
First Year B. Sc. (700 marks)
1. A student is required to offer three science subjects of two units each and also one
paper in Foundation Course. Each unit of an experimental subject will carry one paper of 60 marks and one practical examination of 40 marks. Each unit of a nonexperimental
subject will carry one paper of 1OO marks. Total marks 700.
2. A student is permitted to select any one of the following groups.
(i) Chemistry - Botany - Zoology
(ii) Chemistry - Physics - Mathematics
(iii) Chemistry - Microbiology - Botany*
(iv) Physics - Mathematics - Statistics
(v) Physics _ Chemistry - Botany AND
Foundation Course - I
* The subject of Microbiology is given strictly on the basis of merit decided by the
marks obtained in P-C-B at H.S.C. examination.
* Only those students who will fill in the Enrollment form after the
commencement of college will be considered for the subject of Microbiology.
S. Y. B. Sc. (700 Marks)
A student is required to offer Seven papers as under :
Two Science subjects offfered at F.Y.B.Sc. (as per the scheme available in this
college) and Foundation course II. Each unit of an experimental science subject will
carry one paper of 60 marks and one practical examination of 40 marks. Each unit of
a non-experimental subject will carry one paper of 100 marks. Total marks 700.
A student may offer any one of the following groups.
a) Chemistry and Botany b) Chemistry and Zoology
c) Chemistry and Physics d) Chemistry and Microbiology
e) Botany and Zoology f) Physics and Mathematics
g) Mathematics and Statistics.
T. Y. B. Sc. (800 Marks)
1) A student is required to select any one of the following subjects as his / her Major
subject. The Major subject shall be one of the science subjects offered by the student
in the S.Y.B.Sc. Class.
Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Microbiology
4 papers of Theory. Each papers of 100 marks.
4 practicals, each of 50 marks.
2) In addition to the above, each student shall offer two papers of a subject under the
Applied Component Group as under
First Paper - Theory 60 marks + Practical 40 marks = 100 marks
Second Paper - Theory 60 marks + Practical 40 marks = 100 marks

Physics : Electronic Instrumentation
Chemistry : Drugs & Dyes
Botany : Horticulture and Gardening.
Zoology : Marine Science
Microbiology : Food Production & processing
N.B. : The Practical Examination in the Applied Component subject at the Third
year will be conducted by the university and that the marks obtained in the
applied component group subjects (Theory and Practicals) will be taken
into account for awarding class.
(Provision for teaching various subjects under the group depends upon the
availability of a minimum number of 24 students offering that subject. In case
the minimum number is not available. the student will be required to change
the subject in conformity with the scheme to be notified later.)
