    Govt Medical College Jammu conducts M.B.B.S courses for the Undergraduate students and a variety of higher courses for the Post-graduate students. Over the years, GMC, Jammu has increased its intake and made rapid changes to improve medical education. The courses offered and the education given is of the highest standards and the best ones offered anywhere in the world.

     

    Admissions in GMC Jammu .

     

    All the admissions to GMC, Jammu are based entirely on the merit obtained by the aspirants in the Board of Professional Entrance Examination, conducted annually by the BOPEE (Professional Entrance Examination) of the state of Jammu and Kashmir .

    The eligibility of candidates is determined as follows:

     

        1.     Candidates appearing under Open Merit category must have passed Higher secondary part II

              (Class XII) 10 +2 or equivalent from a recognized board or university with English, Physics ,

              Chemistry and Biology as their elective subjects securing not less than 50% marks in

              aggregate.

     

    2.      Candidates must be permanent residents of J&K state as defined in section 6 of the Constitution of J&K state.

    3.      The candidates must have attained the age of 17 years on or before the month of December.

     

    4.      Candidates applying under reserved categories given in SRO-126 of 1994, dated 28.06.1994 as amended from time to time , must have secured at least 40% marks in aggregate.

     

    5.      Candidates applying under reserved categories given in SRO-126 of 1994, dated 28.06.1994 as amended from time to time , must submit copies of requisite category certificates together with the application form. The Category certificates should be issued by the issuing authorities as according to SRO.

     

    6.      Candidates applying for MBBS/BDS Courses under NR, NRDP, PMF, SIG categories must have secured 50% marks in the qualifying examination as in the case of candidates under the open merit category. The details of seats for all these categories are as follows.

     

    i)                     Children of non-permanent resident (All India Service Officers) J&K Cadre who are allotted to the state.

    ii)                  Children of Non Permanent Resident employee of the State or Central Govt Offices or

              institution run by  the State and who have the continuous Service of not less than

             15 years in the J&K State : "NR" One Seat in GMC, Jammu

     

    iii)                 Children of Non Permanent resident Personal (Army, Navy and Air Force): "NRDP" One seat in GMC, Jammu

    iv)                 Children of Non Permanent resident Defence Personal serving in "SIG" (Siachen Glacier area) :"SIG" One  seat in Govt. Medical College , Jammu .

     

     Note: The parents of the candidates falling under these categories must be serving in J&K State . The

              candidates applying under these categories shall be considered for selection, subject to their

              eligibility in the same manner as for the Open merit category candidates of the J&K State .

     

               However, in the case of NR, NRDP, and SIG  categories, the selection of the eligible candidates

               shall be  arranged by the CAEE on the basis of merit obtained by the candidates within their

              respective categories in term of Govt. order No. 1819-GAD of 1997 dated 20.11.1997. In case

              any of these seats  remain unfilled for any reason the same shall not be transferred to any other

              category. 

               

    Certificates to be Submitted:                                   

     

         Certificate to be submitted (without pinning/stapling) with application form. All Certificates

          should  be attached with Photostat copy of the filled up-application form.

     

    1.        Certificate of Permanent Resident (attested copy) if the applicant is a State subject.

    2.        Marks Certificate from concerned Board of the qualifying examination (attested copy).

    3.        Date of Birth-matriculation certificate (attested copy)

    4.        Provisional (10+2) Certificate in original/School Leaving Certificate.

    5.        Certificate in respect of claim of belonging to any reserved category as mentioned in the relevant SRO`s Government order (attested copy). No under process certificate shall be accepted, under any circumstances.

           Note:- Selected candidates shall have to produce all the certificate in original at the time of

                     admission, or as and when called for by the CAEE, failing which their candidature/selection

                     shall stand cancelled.

      Note: These codes should be filled very carefully in the application form no change will be accepted

               later. No certificate should be stapled or pinned with the application form. The application

              from will not be accepted if it is in any way damaged.

     

           i).  Application forms complete in all respects must reach the Office of the Board of Professional

               Entrance Examination, Bhau Plaza Rail Head, Jammu or 9-A, Poloview Srinagar ( Kashmir ) during

               working hours on the  last date fixed for the receipt of application forms.


           ii)  Applications forms received after the prescribed last date even by post shall not be entertained.
