The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2008 with an intake of 60 students.

 The IT wing consists of departmental computer centre, departmental library with internet facility, IT seminar hall, computer labs consisting of 60 terminals with latest configurations (P-IV systems). All the labs are LAN connected operating on different operating systems such as Windows NT, MSDOS, Windows -98 and UNIX. The software’s available in the lab are MS Office, flash, latex etc. The languages software provided in the labs are C, C++, JAVA, VC++, ADVANCED, JAVA, COBOL, ORACLE11i, UML, and SQL. Facilities are available for uninterrupted power supply (UPS) in all the labs.

 The department has well qualified and experienced faculty members. The staff members are encouraged to participate in workshops, conferences, and symposiums to keep in track with current innovative technologies and developments. Most of the faculty members are doing their Ph.D. research  

Besides, theoretical research, faculty in the department also network with many reputed national and international companies and are involved in a number of projects in the areas of cutting edge technologies. The department has a separate building and all necessary resources like multimedia classrooms, computer labs and a unique laptop lab. Some of the most highly advanced as well as the most popular software packages are being studied by the students.

The faculty in the department consists of senior and well experienced Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors with PhD & MTech Qualifications. An experience System Administrator and well-qualified lab staff take care of the installation and maintenance of the software and the conduct of Labs.

Another added advantage is the emphasis laid on student exposure to prevalent Information Technology practices and realities, which the course curriculum takes care of. Also, industry visits and seminars are also organized regularly for the benefit of the students. The teaching methodology at MKITW concentrates on bridging theory and practice, including a wide variety of hardware and software technologies and their applications. The methodology is designed to equip students with the fundamental understanding and practical skills needed by the potential leaders of a demanding profession. It is training in logical thought and expression, and can lead to employment in many different fields.

Information Technology underpins this revolution, bringing together an understanding of the scientific and technological foundations of computing, hardware and software methods, and information and communication technologies.

Realizing the need for bridging the gap between the demand and supply for software professionals in the corporate world. It is the most preferred course for many young aspirants in the field of software engineering. The institute offers the state of the art Labs and expert faculty who have rich experience in the software industry.
