- ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL Established in the year 2008, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at TIRUMALA ENGINEERING COLLEGE has developed from an undergraduate program with an intake of 60 students, at present the intake is 120. The Mechanical Engineering programs have been certified by the ISO. The Mechanical Engineering department has also steadily progressed to attain accreditation from NBA. The department is headed by Dr.K.Raghu Ram Mohan Reddy who is having 18 years of teaching and industrial experience.The research in the Department is concentrated mostly in two thrust areas namely Surface Engineering and Composite materials. The faculty of the Department closely interacts with the industry in keeping up with the latest trends in research and development as well as the training of the students in accordance with the global trends. The department of Mechanical Engineering has MOUs with a many leading companies towards consultancy projects and placements of students. The Department has state-of-the-art labs and infrastructure to facilitate students in acquiring hands on experience in addition to classroom learning. Further, students are encouraged to organize/participate in technical fests and other academic activities in accordance with IEI guidelines to develop leadership skills. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized faculty development program in association with NITTTR Chennai, to enhance the teaching and learning skills of the faculty. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has been organizing workshops, technical fests /symposiums (PRAYAGA), guest lectures, seminars for the benefit of students. The significant number of Mechanical Engineering students are placed in both core and software companies every year. Though most of the graduating students get offers from the leading industries in India/abroad, the department of Mechanical Engineering strongly recommends the continuation of education and the development of research skills of the individuals. The department of Mechanical Engineering is going to offer M.Tech courses in CAD/CAM and Machine Design specialization courses. In addition to academics and research, the department focuses on guiding the students towards discipline and responsibility, thus aiding in the development of model citizens for the society.
