- Civil Engineering is a vast field of engineering that deals with the planning, designing, supervision, construction, and maintenance of various structures, or public works like roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings, airports, dams, water works, sewerage systems, ports, etc. and offers a multitude of challenging career opportunities. Most civil engineering today deals with power plants, bridges, roads, railways, structures, water supply, irrigation, the natural environment, sewer, flood control, transportation and traffic. In essence, civil engineering may be regarded as the profession that makes the world a more agreeable place to live.
About the Department:
The Civil Engineering department, emerged out in 2012 (Established in 1998) strongly emphasizes on fundamentals as well as planning, analysis and design, to make students knowledgeable, creative and to understand the latest technologies. Department of Civil Engineering is a WBUT and AICTE recognized course. The department is equipped with advanced lab facilities like concrete lab, soil mechanics lab, survey lab, highway & transportation engineering lab, strength of materials lab, fluid mechanics lab etc. along with good faculty and teaching staffs. The department also conducts various industrial trainings, projects and seminars time by time with emphasis on R & D to strengthen knowledge and practice for the UG students in order to become excellent in future with innumerable opportunities in industry, research and education.

To impart quality education to the students in order to serve society and the nation by providing solutions to the challenges in the field of civil engineering, globally & to provide students and faculty members with opportunities to innovate and disseminate knowledge.

Department of Civil Engineering has a vision to become a leading research centre in CE discipline with advanced technologies and all the advanced research facilities / equipments. Also the M.Tech. courses will be introduced very soon with all the advanced infrastructural & research facilities.
