- Technological advances have brought changes to organizations and industries across the world. This has led to ever-increasing need for professionals who have analytical, managerial skills along with sound technical knowledge. Foreseeing this need, IME Department has designed its M.Tech Programme to help existing engineers gain managerial skills.The M.Tech program is the flagship program of IME department. It is one of the oldest to introduce industrial engineering in India. The program provides a perfect blend of industrial engineering and management science to its students. The well-defined structure of course work and a yearlong thesis work provides in-depth knowledge of concepts to students. The intervening summer internships is used for practical project work in industries.The program focuses on developing expertise in management engineering. It covers diverse topics from both the management and engineering paradigms. Quantitative modeling methods, improvement of productivity, quality and profitability in the manufacturing sector, supply chain management and application of optimization techniques in finance, marketing and IT are some of the areas to which students are exposed.COURSE STRUCTURE :-During the two years course work, student is supposed to take a minimum of 9 courses, 4 of which are compulsory to get the basic understanding of various fields. Student is free to choose other 5 courses from a wide range of alternatives. A two month summer internship is an integral part of this course which gives much needed industry exposure to students.
