Mechanical Engineering

·  The department of mechanical engineering was established in the year 1999 with an intake of 60 students and increased to 120 students from year 2011 onwards. The department also has a post graduate program in Design & Manufacturing with a sanctioned intake of 18 students.

·  The characteristic feature of the department is student centric learning by conducting design and project contests through prestigious student chapters and hobby clubs. Further faculty research through funded research projects to the tune of half crores from reputed organizations like ASL, DRDO, AICTE etc., ignites the young minds towards innovative thinking.

·  University ranks, gold medals is a regular feature of the department.

Mandate of the Department

·     To improve the career potential of the students by guiding them in carrying out industry-oriented projects, presenting their papers/ work in national level paper contests, working model exhibitions, design contests etc., in addition to classroom learning.

·     To improve the entrepreneurial skills of the students, by imparting product development skills and arranging interaction with Industrialists/ Company Executives

·     To encourage Industry-Institute-Interaction, resulting in consultancy, collaborative projects, training, and student projects

·     To transform as a research-intensive department and promote consultancy services.

·     To develop effective Memorandums of Understanding with leading companies in the field, for mutual benefit.

·     To evolve as a center of excellence in the area of composites

·     Adaption of modern teaching-learning practices to promote student centric learning.

·     To identify the ever-changing requirements of the students and to address them effectively thereby making value addition to the students.

·     The department has a manpower of 30 well qualified and experienced teaching faculty and non-teaching staff working under the dynamic leadership of Mr. N. Leela Prasad with 17 years of teaching experience.He has 4publications/conferences in reputed journals. The major areas of research works include Thermal, Composite materials, castings, etc,.

·     The department has a state-of-art laboratories well equipped with experienced technical staff for guiding the students during their experimental work.

·     The department has a unique facility for manufacturing and testing of Composite Materials which are useful to our students/faculty to carry out their project/research work and sponsored projects.
