The Department of Information Technology was established in MVGR College of Engineering on 1st November, 2000 with the well experienced faculty with an objective to impart quality education in the field of IT. With rapidly evolving technology and the continuous need for innovation, the department has always produced quality professionals, holding important positions in IT industry across the globe. Over the years, the students who have passed out have earned themselves high positions in Blue Chip Organizations including Polaris, Infosys, Satyam, Convergys, Sintel, HCL to name just a few. Also, some of our graduates are pursuing their higher studies in premier Institutions in our country as well as abroad. The Department has a network of systems supporting 100 terminals for the use of Undergraduate students. The facilities are continuously being upgraded and provided with sophisticated Laboratories.
The department has been conferred autonomous status in the year 2015 and the first autonomous batch with regulation A1 has been started from the academic year 2015-16.
The department has been provisionally re-accredited by National Board of Accreditation in the year 2015.
Ms.Ch.Madhuri, has bagged gold medal as Topper of IT from JNTUK in the year for 2006-10 batch.
Vision: The Department of Information Technology would continually work as an effective bridge between the aspirations of prospective students for a fruitful professional career and information technology industry’s need for well-rounded information technology engineers with strong fundamentals and sound problem solving temperament.
Mission:
The Department of Information Technology of M V G R College of Engineering in tune with its vision would offer under-graduate program in engineering to prepare students for a successful career as Information Technology Professional in a very dynamically changing industry by:
o Inculcating strong mathematical & computing fundamentals among students that form the baseline for modern day Computer Science & Information Technology solutions with emphasis on software development.
o Inculcating among its students the need for continuous learning and the skills necessary to continue their education, develop professionally and push the boundaries of knowledge long after their graduation.
o Imbibing in its students a deep understanding of expected professional, ethical and societal responsibilities.
o Inculcating among its students rich and reasonably comprehensive skill set with practical exposure in putting the same to use for problem solving in a team setting enabling them to be valuable contributors to the IT industry & society at large immediately after graduation.
o Providing a stimulating environment for faculty & students alike that fosters a culture of knowledge seeking and sharing & appreciation of intellect helping all involved to grow both as individuals and as information technology professionals.
Objectives- To impart value added quality education in the field of IT and mould them as per the industrial standards.
- To get exposure in various OS environments to meet the industrial requirements and compete with the present competitive world.
- To motive them in working as a group through the live example of the faculty.

PEO1: Our graduates will apply their knowledge and skills to succeed in a computer science career and/or obtain an advanced degree.
