Since we live in the "information age," information technology has become a part of our everyday lives. In some companies, I.T referred to as Management Information Services (or MIS) or simply as Information Services (or IS). The information technology department of a large company would be responsible for storing information, protecting information, processing the information, transmitting the information as necessary, and later retrieving information as necessary. Information technology (IT) is the branch of engineering dealing with the use of computers and telecommunications, developing and maintaining systems as well as retrieving, storing and transmitting information.
Information Technology is an engineering division, which concentrates on the study of utilizing computers and telecommunications in order to control, gather, store and circulate information. Both software and hardware sectors are parts of Information Technology. Due to the importance and reputation of IT, the present age is sometimes referred to as information technology age. IT represents a vast category of career options that are based on processing, designing, developing, managing or supporting computer and web-based technologies and devices that constitute an IT network. The modern world is entirely IT-dependent with Information Technology applications present in nearly every aspect of our lives. This translates into a wide variety of career opportunities in this field, both for fresh and experienced IT professionals.
