The department consists of following Laboratories; IC Engine Lab, Heat Transfer Lab, Refrigeration/Air-conditioning Lab, Theory and Machine Lab, Metrology Lab, Metallurgy Lab, CAD/CAM Lab, FMS Lab, Tribiology Lab and Turbo machinery Lab. The dept. has faciltative equipments for research and practicals such as three turbines Pelton, Francis and Kaplan Lab demonstrations by models, charts and internal combustion engine systems, power plants, refrigeration/air-conditioners, etc. The workshop provides an opportunity for the students to have hands-on experience on various machines and also introduce them to various trades like fitting, carpentry, welding, black-smithy, plumbing, molding, and casting.
The state-of-the-art machine shop is well equipped with modern all geared lathe machines, sharper, Slotter, universal milling machine, radial drilling machine, surface grinder, fly presses etc. The molding and casting shop is equipped with coal fired crucible furnace with a sand bed and all molding equipments and accessories. The black smith shop consists of four hearths, anvils and centralized blower. The Workshop is equipped with a digital universal testing machine with computer interface for material testing, CNC lathe and CNC milling machine is a production unit, which is a unique feature of the workshop.
