- Genesis of the Department Before 1994, among self-supporting Engineering Colleges in Andhra Pradesh only a few offered B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. To meet the ever-growing demand for electrical power, many power plants of large capacities need to be brought in the pipeline in private and government sectors. Since there is a requirement for large number of Electrical engineering graduates, this department is offering a program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in B.E. level since 1994 and is committed to produce well-trained electrical graduates. This department has received ISO:9000 certification, AICTE accreditation twice i.e.; in the years 2004 and 2008. It has acquired excellence in the areas of Power Systems and Power Electronics and has well qualified and committed faculty. This department is also offering P.G. Program in Power Systems & Power Electronics from June 2006 onwards. The department maintains a good staff-student ratio. This department is having 17 teaching and 11 supporting staff. Four of teaching staff are with doctorate and five more are pursuing their Ph.D. Average number of years of experience of teaching staff is more than 10 years. Our students and staff are actively engaged in paper publications in national/international conferences and journals. The department arranges expert lecture by the eminent personalities. Teaching and learning process is strengthened with regular feedback, both oral and written, from students. Besides periodical tests, well designed assignments, regular tutorial and remedial classes are arranged whenever it is required. Department is having 10 well equipped labs. The laboratory facilities are periodically strengthened with addition of equipment depending on the requirements in the updated syllabi and the student projects. The books and journals in the department & main library besides 40 computers with Internet connectivity are good friends of our students and staff keeping them engaged in productive work. The simulation and design software like MultisimPspice, Matlab, CCS software and PSCAD etc. tend to stimulate and energize our students. Thirteen batches have successfully completed their degree and are placed well in India and abroad. Under the guidance of our highly motivated teaching and non-teaching staff, these students maintain their standards which are reflected in excellent pass past academic years. The department is maintaining excellent student placement record for all these years. Some of them pass out with 2 or 3 jobs in hand. The major strength of our department is the cream of student community that takes admission into our department through a common entrance examination conducted by Government of Andhra Pradesh. The good Infrastructure and eminent faculty, further strengthen the department. The staff and students of EEE Department are desperate to come out of books and do something fast by combining the technical prowess of engineering skills acquired at college level. As India stands on the cusp of being a global super-power, we look at the potential contribution that, our staff and students can make towards this transformation, as well as any firm providing them a stepping stone to realize this golden dream. Two important areas, where there is a lot of scope for improvement are consultancy activity and funding for research from outside agencies. These are the area of utmost priority in the coming years. Department would be glad to invite the funding agency like TEQIP-II to strengthen further and build a good career.
