The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in the year 2007. The department has both UG and PG courses with strength of 480 students in the UG and 36 students in the PG with specialization in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The department has 24 teaching faculty experienced in various disciplines of ECE. The department hosts state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for both UG and PG courses in conformity with the curriculum with infrastructure supporting both hardware and software. The UG and PG students have separate sophisticated software labs accommodating 73 PCs in the UG lab and 42 PCs in the PG lab with updated tools and round the clock high-speed internet. The Micro Processor and Micro Controller (MP&MC), Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD) and M.Tech laboratories are equipped with the necessary hardware kits for the practical implementation of the laboratory experiments that are also helpful in the execution of the academic projects.
The department organizes Faculty Development Programs frequently to enhance the technical and perceptional skills of the both the teaching and non-teaching faculty. The teaching faculty are also encouraged and supported by the administration to carry on their academic research activities through various technical workshops and conferences. The teaching faculty already holds prestigious national and international journal publications like Elsevier, CSI-Springer and conference publications that appeared in IEEE Xplore under diverse technical streams pertinent to their specializations. The faculty members also guide the students during their academic projects towards publishing their project work in various national and international journals. The students are further motivated to participate in varied technical events such as fests, workshops, seminars, guest-lectures, etc., to refurbish their knowledge on the current technical advancements taking place worldwide. For the all-round development of the students, a department association is set up that carries out activities such as group discussions, mock interviews, JAM sessions and so on, promoting their inter-personal skills.
Many passed-out UG students of the department are pursuing their higher education in prestigious institutions across the globe like Melbourne University Australia, University of California, Southern Methodist University Texas USA, Bradley University Illnois, and Pennsylvania State University USA. Students also hold to their credit several GATE ranks every year who got their admissions into NITs. Students are also recruited in several MNCs including Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Syntel, HCL, iGATE, etc., in India and AT&T, Oracle in USA. Some of the students are recruited into core companies like BEL and Honeywell.
